Penn-Trafford BotsIQ Team Explores Careers in Manufacturing

Students from the Penn-Trafford High School BotsIQ team visited Cleaveland/Price Inc. in Trafford on October 15, where they had the opportunity to see manufacturing in action.

During the visit, the students toured the facility and met with engineers, assembly technicians, and machine operators working on the shop floor. The trip provided a glimpse of various career opportunities available in the manufacturing industry, many of which are in demand across the Pittsburgh region.

The students also learned that many local manufacturing jobs do not require a traditional four-year college degree. In fact, many employers are willing to pay for job-related training, certifications, or degrees to help employees advance in their careers.

The visit ties in with the mission of the Southwestern Pennsylvania (SWPA) BotsIQ program, which introduces students to careers in manufacturing and engineering by challenging them to design and build a robot to compete against other regional teams.

By combining hands-on experience with career exploration, the Penn-Trafford BotsIQ program is helping to prepare students for the future while supporting the growth of the manufacturing industry in southwestern Pennsylvania.
