Penn-Trafford High School’s Television Production class, PTTV, earned top honors as “the best high school broadcast show across Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia.” The recognition came from Point Park University’s School of Communication, which, in collaboration with Point Park alumnus and KDKA anchor Bob Pompeani, introduced the inaugural Bob Pompeani High School Broadcast Award.
To enter, PTTV submitted a recorded broadcast and was subsequently invited to the university to perform a live show on February 8 alongside four other finalists.
Penn-Trafford seniors Julianne Fontano and Bryn Urban, and junior Maddy Longo represented PTTV at the competition. The award came with a $1,000 prize to be used for the program.
“It’s an honor to be invited to compete for this prestigious award,” commented teacher Mr. Vinton. “I am very proud of the students who represented PTTV at the competition. They did a fantastic job delivering the news to bring home 1st place.”
