PT Warriors are Esports Champions

On December 15th, the Penn-Trafford High School Esports team competed at Waynesburg University in the Fall PIEA State Championship Regional Finals.  Esports, also known as ‘electronic sports’, is a form of sport competition using a video game platform. This year’s competitions featured a ‘Rocket League’ theme, a game that combines computerized soccer and rocket-powered cars.

Penn-Trafford’s D2 Rocket League won the day with a 4-0 performance, giving Penn-Trafford its 4th Rocket League High School Esports championship and 7th High School Esports championship.

Team members include Braeden Cianciotti, Kristian Grills, Brendan Lloyd, and Austin Yamnitzky.

Prior to the championship, Esports officials granted permission for one of Penn-Trafford’s players, Braeden Cianciotti, who had been diagnosed with lymphoblastic leukemia in November, to compete with his teammates from his home.  Braeden competed in all four games to help achieve the win.
