Penn-Trafford High School is the beneficiary of a new Raku Kiln, used to fire glazed pottery for the school’s ceramics classes. A grant from PTCEF provided funds for the kiln, which replaces a very old and worn-out model.
Penn-Trafford’s Raku kiln made its debut firings on May 10, 2024, and by all accounts, the results were better than expected. “We are absolutely thrilled to have a reliable method of Raku firing to offer to ceramic students,” said Mrs. Christeleit.“ Senior ceramics student Ella Dindak added, “Watching the Raku firing process was so much fun and knowing what it took to make my project look like this is so cool.” The Raku kiln will be used for many years to come.
