In April, Penn-Trafford High School students took part in Forbes Hospital's ‘Exploration Day’ to learn about career opportunities in healthcare. Sixteen departments from the hospital were represented including Radiology, Rehabilitation, Operating Room, Pharmacy, and many others.
Students enjoyed speaking with staff, asking questions about particular fields, and seeing hospital equipment demonstrations. EMS Services provided tours of an ambulance and a presentation on EMS careers.
Students learned more about the hospital’s Talent Attraction Program (TAP) which offers no-cost education in several career certifications. Students also listened to ANH Forbes Hospital President, Dr. Mark A. Rubino, MD speak about his career path and the need for healthcare professionals. Transportation for this event was funded by the Westmoreland-Fayette Workforce Investment Board.
