Students Attend “Anything That Floats” Event

Two teams from Penn-Trafford High School competed in the ‘Anything that Floats’ event at Burrell High School on January 11.  The event brought together students from the gifted programs at Penn-Trafford, Greater Latrobe, and Burrell.  After learning about buoyancy, surface tension and displacement, each team of students built a water craft to sail across the pool with the objective of staying afloat and winning the race.

Penn-Trafford’s teams fared well with Team One (Tim Wolford, Evan Sadler, Faiz Khatri and Spencer Slacker) finishing in second place while Team Two (Marissa Fong and Grant Alexander) placed third.
