A group of Penn-Trafford High School students represented the district at the ‘Computer Science Day’ hosted by Saint Vincent College on October 17. More than 70 students from six different Westmoreland County schools attended the event, where they worked in groups to solve computer science problems ranging from programming drones, to coding in Python, and cybersecurity. Penn-Trafford was well-represented and won the following awards:
Ella Malloy - 2nd Place for Cybersecurity Decoding
Brayden Cain - 3rd Place for Cybersecurity Decoding
Brayden Cain, Faiz Khatri, Josh Maust, and Benjamin Wei - 1st Place Team for Drone Programming & Operation
Dannica Wukich - Most Lines of Code for Python Computer Programming
Benjamin Wei - Most Challenge Points for Python Computer Programming
Natalie Goldsworthy - Most Trophies Awarded for Python Computer Programming
The students were accompanied to the event by Teacher of Gifted, Mrs. Christina Wukich, who is quick to give accolades to her colleague and Computer Science Teacher, Mrs. Marty Corna, for preparing these students and giving them a competitive advantage.
