Michael Koreen, a Penn-Trafford graduate from the class of 2023, traveled to Atlanta, Georgia with instructors from the Central Westmoreland CTC and his teammates Tyler Bagshaw (Hempfield Area), Jordan Fry (Greensburg Salem), and Mason Perez (Greensburg Salem) to compete in the national Teamworks competition sponsored by SkillsUSA in June.
The students were given two days to complete a project demonstrating knowledge and skill in the building trades. They received blueprints and building supplies, and the team members assumed the roles of carpenter (Jordan Fry), electrician (Tyler Bagshaw), plumber (Michael Koreen), and mason (Mason Perez).
The CWCTC team placed third in the national competition to earn a bronze medal and placed first from all teams in Pennsylvania.
