On Friday, May 12th, the girls’ and boys' lacrosse teams of Penn-Trafford High School hosted the 1st Annual ‘Battle of the Sticks’ event at Warrior Stadium. The event's dual purposes were to give both teams a warm send-off prior to the WPIAL playoffs and also to raise money for the school district’s Backpacks-To-Go program which supplies food to families in need.
The high school teams invited youth in grades 1-12 to join them on the field for events that showcased their skills such as shot accuracy, shot speed, and agility. The stands were filled with parents, family members, and community members who came out to cheer on the kids and support the great cause.
In addition to being entertained by the athletes, attendees enjoyed refreshments, McFeely’s novelty ice cream truck, a merchandise tent, and a basket raffle. The event raised nearly $1,200 for the Backpacks-To-Go program.
