Penn-Trafford Rifle Team Honored at State Capitol

The Penn-Trafford High School Rifle Team wrapped up a very successful competition season in February by winning the Pennsylvania State Prone Team Championship.  Soon thereafter, the team received an invitation from State Representative George Dunbar and Senator Kim Ward to come to Harrisburg and spend the day at the Capitol building.

The team traveled to Harrisburg on May 3rd where they met both Representative Dunbar (56th District) and Senator Ward (Westmoreland County) and received citations from both legislators.  Other highlights of the day included a behind-the-scenes tour of the Capitol and sitting in on a Senate discussion of a proposed bill.

“Unfortunately, due to ongoing debates in both the Senate and House, Rep. Dunbar and Senator Ward were not able to meet with us for very long, but we are so grateful that they took time out of their busy schedules to greet us at some point during our visit,” commented Coach Diana Cholock.  “The kids all had a great time and it was truly an honor to go.”
