Penn-Trafford’s driving instructors are now certified as driving exam proctors for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
To achieve certification, high school teachers Mr. Carlisle, Mr. Moses, and Mr. Crompton traveled to Harrisburg to complete the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Instructor Program. To complete certification, the state visited Penn-Trafford to observe and ensure that the instruction and test were held to the required standards.
After a PT Student successfully completes the Drivers Theory (offered during the summer and spring) and Behind the Wheel (offered only during the summer), they are eligible to take the official Pennsylvania drivers exam with their Behind the Wheel instructor. Instructors are available to proctor the PA Drivers Exam throughout the calendar year. “We go through everything from basic vehicle controls, parking, city driving, and highway driving during the first five hours,” said Mr. Carlisle. “Then finally during the 6th hour, we are able to test the students and give them their driver’s licenses.”
Registration information for the driving courses can be found on the PTHS website (www.pths.penn trafford.org) and select “Academics,” then “2023 PT Summer Academy.” Dr. Greg Capoccioni is the faculty advisor for driving instruction.
