Child Development Course Teaches Healthy Snacking

Students in the Child Development 2 course at Penn-Trafford High School are learning about the social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth of children ages 3-8.  The class covers topics such as health, nutrition, play, and family.

In a recent lesson, students made healthy snacks that are age appropriate for preschoolers.  Before making banana lollipops (consisting of bananas, greek yogurt and chocolate cereal), teacher Mrs. Siniawski led a discussion on the importance of healthy snacking for young children and teens.  “Healthy snacking provides a boost of energy, extra nutrients, brain development, boosts immunity, and helps to keep the body strong and healthy,” said Siniawski.
