Students Take Art Outdoors

The Penn-Trafford Community Education Foundation (PTCEF) provided grant funds to enable high school art teacher, Ms. Jane DeBone, to purchase outdoor tables and benches for the school’s art wing courtyard.

Seating in the outdoor space provides students with the opportunity to be creative beyond the confines of the classroom environment.

“Moving students out of their desks and outside can have a number of positive effects on students and their ability to learn,” said Ms. DeBone.  Her grant proposal cited studies which demonstrated the many positive results from learning outdoors, which include increasing students’ physical, mental, and social health, as well as decreasing stress levels of both students and teachers.
