Penn-Trafford junior, Delena Steimer, has been recognized as a National Medalist in the Scholastic Writing Awards. After earning a Gold Key in the Pittsburgh regional competition, Delena’s poem, “Post-Apocalypse,” advanced to the national competition where it earned a Silver Medal.
More than 260,000 works of art and writing were submitted to the 2022 Scholastic Awards. Delana’s poem was selected by some of the foremost leaders in the visual and literary arts for excellence in originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. Less than 2,000 works received a National Medal, which places her within the top 1% of all submissions. Delena’s poem has been framed and will be displayed at Penn-Trafford High School.
