In mid-December, Penn-Trafford High School held a presentation for freshmen to share details on the Central Westmoreland County Technical Center (CWCTC) which is located in New Stanton, PA.
PTHS students entering grades 10-12 who wish to pursue an industry-based technical education are eligible to apply to the CWCTC, which offers programs such as Automotive Collision Repair, Computer Information Science, Construction Trades, Cosmetology, Culinary, Health Occupations Technology, Robotic Engineering, and Welding & Metal Fabrication (please see the CWCTC website for a full list of programs). The CWCTC provides services to ten school districts in Westmoreland County and there are currently 105 Penn-Trafford students enrolled.
The presentation on December 14th included an informational presentation by CWCTC staff followed by rotation through various interactive stations which featured some of the technical programs. The stations were manned by current Penn-Trafford students who are also enrolled at CWCTC. Based on what they observed, over fifty Penn-Trafford freshmen expressed interest in learning more and will tour the CWCTC facilities on January 25th. Applications for the 2022-2023 school year will be accepted beginning in February.
