The Great Debate Comes to Penn-Trafford

Students from Penn-Trafford High School hosted and participated in the Great Debate on Friday, November 19. Visiting students from Kiski, Franklin Regional, Greensburg Salem, Belle Vernon, and Burrell High Schools debated topics selected by 12th-grader and student leader Thomas Kopasko in a public forum debate.

Topics ranging from nuclear energy to the use of cyber offensive operations were argued.  Three teams of Penn-Trafford students competed.  The team of Michael Harris and Mya Malloy won its match, as did the team of Natalie Goldsworthy and Jillian McLaughlin.  The third team of Rachael Gill and Ella Malloy performed commendably.

Numerous 4-year competitors enjoyed the opportunity to hear the debates from the judge's seat this year. Student judges included  Dante Barchiesi, Victoria Davis, Mark Harris, Nick Freilino, Rylyn Ickes, Mia Muro, and Berkley Olszewski.
