Penn-Trafford students attend “Empowering Women in STEM” at Cal U

California University of Pennsylvania hosted its first annual Empowering Women in STEM event; a day dedicated to the recognition of female high school seniors who have excelled academically in any area of STEM including Computer Science and Engineering.

During the event, each woman was invited to CalU for a special day of recognition that included a luncheon and workshops led by female STEM faculty. The breakout sessions ranged from Computer Science to Math to Chemistry.

High school teachers Samantha Ramaswamy, Eric Reger, and Jim Rocco selected the following students for this award (respectively):

  • Maura Coiner, senior
  • Ashley Broadwater, senior
  • Victoria Davis, junior

Mrs. Ramaswamy commented, “I am very proud of each of these girls for their success and determination in the various science and math courses that they have taken throughout their high school career. It was a proud moment to see these Penn-Trafford ladies recognized for their outstanding achievements.”
